Ta-da! It's not even mid-August and I've managed to complete my July favorites. Shall I go as far as to say that my August favorites might actually be ready by September 1st, or even (gasp) August 31st? I guess I shouldn't jinx myself.
So, here's what's been comprising my month of July.
{Book}
"We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart
I've mentioned this book many many times, and I'm going to mention it again because it was so incredible. This book will make you feel. I don't want to give away anything, just know that this book takes a turn. I know a lot of people can read a book and immediately know what will happen (*cough* my boyfriend *cough*), but I just can't read books like that. I like to go into it knowing nothing, and continue reading it without making predictions. Bottom line, if you're interested in teen fictions, books that make you think, and plot twists, pick this book up right now.
{Food}
Fiber One: Streusel Bars
I am absolutely obsessed with these things. I've always been a fan of the whole Fiber One line; I was hooked on the granola bars, then the brownies, then the cookies, and now this. They're like a Nutrigrain bar (name-dropping) but they're better. They're extremely crumbly and do not hold up well in purses, but they're so good and you won't even believe they have 5 grams of fiber. My favorite is the strawberry flavor, although the blueberry is also very delicious. Just try one and be amazed at the fact that you didn't get it at a Starbucks for $4.
{Nail Polish}
Essie's "Big Spender"
This nail color is, to me, phenomenal. It's a perfect toe color and also looks quite lovely on finger nails as well. When purchasing this polish, I was actually looking for a different Essie color, "Too Taboo". "Too Taboo" is more pink and has a slight neon look to it, whereas "Big Spender" is more of a raspberry. I was so set on "Too Taboo", though, that when I couldn't find it I almost abandoned the idea of getting myself a nail polish. But that hardly sounds like me, so I picked up "Big Spender" thinking it was "close enough", and now I'm so glad that they didn't have my first choice. This color shall go into my all time favorite collection of nail polishes and, I'm sure, will be reused many a time.
{Random}
Aerie
After my latest shopping trip with my friend, Mandy, I have renewed my love for Aerie. I try not to splurge too much on things like "fancy underwear" when more often than not it's not near as comfortable, costs more, and essentially no one really sees it. However, sometimes I just can't resist their deals. I also think that Aerie underwear in general is usually pretty comfortable. I like that they offer a lot of different cuts in a wide variety of colors and patterns instead of everything being a thong or a "cheeker" (is that what they're even called?). But I recently signed up for the Aerie Rewards program, which is very similar to the American Eagle Rewards program except that I will shop at Aerie way more often, and will likely use the rewards (e.g. a free pair of underwear or bra instead of 15% off). Lastly, from Aerie, I am LOVING their bralettes. They are super comfortable and, again, come in a bunch of different colors. I prefer lounging around in these guys a thousand times more than lounging in a sports bra -- I never understood why people did that, they're so constricting. Aerie's bralettes, at least the ones I've bought, were about $20, which I think is a fantastic price. 10/10 would buy in every color of the rainbow.
{Song}
"Circles" by Machineheart x Vanic
All credit to getting me hooked on this song goes to my boyfriend. It was the Fourth of July, we were on our way to leave for the fireworks and he starts playing this song. I think he played it about 5 times in a row, but I couldn't even complain because it was so catchy. Listening to this song makes think summer, like driving around with your friends, dancing, spray painting things... oh wait, that's how the music video goes. But in all honesty, it's just the ultimate feel-good song. I haven't heard a lot of other music from this band, Machineheart, but perhaps they will become one of my favorite artists (P.S. If you ever listened to the band He Is We, you might recognize Trevor Kelly). Also technically this is a remixed version, which I personally like better because it has a little more beat to it.
July was great, August is going well so far, and favorite ideas are already brewing.
