Day Two.
Today was my 20th birthday.
At last, I have escaped the teenaged years.
While the past 20 years have been wonderful, I am excited to see what my twenties (and beyond) will come to bring. If today was any indication of how the following year will go, then I think it will be a good year for me.
To give a "quick" summary of my birthday, I started my morning fairly bright and early. I was up by 8 a.m. and then out of the house by 9:50. My first stop of the day included grabbing a bagel from Einstein's and a little "me-time". My original plan was to sit inside the bagel shop and read, though with it being prime-bagel-time (apparently) I decided to take my birthday breakfast elsewhere.

This will probably sound silly, but I spent AT LEAST an hour driving around trying to find the perfect spot. I wanted to be somewhere aesthetically pleasing, but also somewhere where I could sit and eat in peace. My first few stops included local parks, which I had never actually been to in the two years of my living here. Unfortunately none of the three parks just felt right to me, so I began to drive some more. Finally, I found somewhere that was pleasant and somewhat private -- a church parking lot. The church was off a country road and was surrounded by fields with an adorable view of this little pond. At last I could finally eat my, now cold, bagel. And come to find out it was burnt pretty much all around the edges, but I really didn't care. I was content with my view and my time.
After breakfast, which by that point was around 11:30, I headed to Target to do some shopping and then soon headed home to have lunch with my mom. She couldn't stay for long, since she had to get back to work, but I was glad to get to see her before I continued my own birthday celebration by going to the mall. I shopped around a little until finally deciding to treat myself to some Sephora (goodbye, money). I will probably make a separate post showing and possibly reviewing the products that I picked up.
Around 4:00 I headed home to unwrap some presents from my mom, which were all lovely and also very practical. Then, around dinner time, my dad came up to take my mom and I out to dinner at T.G.I. Friday's. Thankfully since it was a weekday, the restaurant wasn't very crowded and it provided a nice homey atmosphere. In the end I ate way too much, because of course I had to get dessert, but it was all too delicious to not overindulge at least a little.
At the end of the day I am left feeling very blessed for all the people in my life who so kindly wished me a happy birthday (whether it was via text, Facebook, birthday card, etc). I am trying to be more openly appreciative of everything that I am so lucky to have in my life, and so far it honestly feels great. I've already said it, but I honestly feel that 20 will be a beautiful year.
