||Day Fifty-One||
My mom and I are the same person in many ways. We're both very clumsy, we would both choose to stay in to read than go out to a party, and we both like Channing Tatum movies (though really, who doesn't). But we're also both very hard-working and dedicated people. And that has it's pros and cons. The downside really is that we tend to take on a lot of projects at once. We're ambitious, but then we can get overwhelmed, or maybe we just don't plan accordingly. Everything always seems to work out, but we can get distracted or deterred so that it takes longer than it would for other people.

Last summer we dedicated to painting. We painted my room, my brother's room (twice), the downstairs bathroom (twice), the living room, the dining room, then eventually my mom painted her room (also twice) and her bathroom. It should also be noted that she loves to paint rooms. But it's extremely time consuming. Anyway, the point is that because we spent all last summer painting that we didn't get to a lot of our other projects such as working on the yard, or redoing the upstairs bathroom, or hanging pictures. So slowly but surely we are trying to accomplish these tasks. All the while thinking of more things to do. Maybe we'll replace the dining room overhead light, maybe we should redo the carpeting on the stairs; the list goes on and on. It's times like these when diligence, and Starbucks, are most necessary.
Today I strayed from my usual hot chocolate (considering it's summer and I don't like coffee) and tried one of their new Teavana drinks -- Shaken Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade. This, and the Shaken Iced Blackberry Mojito Tea Lemonade, are both a fairly good deal. $2.75 for a tall (which is more than enough for me) and only 100 calories, if that concerns you. I haven't tried the blackberry, but as for the peach, I'm not sure it's something I would get again. It's a very refreshing drink, and I can imagine how luxurious it would be to sip on this while poolside, but it has a strange after taste. I think it might be the ginger. It's the kind of drink that shouldn't be paired with food, because nothing seems to compliment the flavors. It's a sweet drink, but if you try to eat something sweet with it, it tastes tart, or just weird. I can't really explain it. But basically, if you're eyeing the cakepops, think again.
This whole blog post kind of segued from one topic to another, but I think that's pretty fitting considering my point about getting side tracked and distracted. I guess the whole point is, this summer shall be full of things to keep me busy, but I'm still going to make the most of it. Whether that's by reading my new book (which I'm absolutely dying to do right now), or splurging on a fancy drink. We all have our guilty pleasures.
