||Day Fifty-Two||
The best kind of friendships are the ones that have expiration date. They're easy to revive. It doesn't matter how long you've been out of touch; when you get back together it's as if no time has passed at all. Except it's almost better, because after X days/weeks/months/years have come and gone, then you have X days/weeks/months/years worth of things to talk about.
I'm very lucky to have quite a few friendships like that.
In particular, two of my good friends, Karina and Mariel.
We were all three involved in choir, show choir to be exact, and we bonded through the magic of Sporcle. My junior year, their sophomore year, we all had 8th period "resource" (basically a study hall) which we all spent in the choir room (because where else do choir geeks like us hang out?). I can't exactly say how we started talking or what got us started on Sporcle, but it's honestly one of my best high school memories. Also we were really awesome at Sporcle. But the fact is that that class brought us closer together than just being in the same choir group did. Resource also became a time for us to gossip or share the dramatic stories of our "exciting" high school lives. And that continued throughout my graduation, and somewhat into summer. But after I went off to college the dynamic changed. Then when they graduate we were all going our separate ways -- different colleges, different majors, different friends. And yet, today we were able to get together like it was just another day in high school.
We laughed, we cried, we were obnoxious and awesome at the same time.
We don't call each other every weekend, we don't even text really. Sometimes the most of our communication is shared via "likes" on instagram, or "favorites" on twitter. And that's okay. Because some friendships can live on the memories. I'm so grateful for friends that can completely turn around what was a VERY rough morning (it involved getting lost trying to go to a new doctor; I'll save you the drawn out sob story). So thank you to my fellow Squige friends (don't question it) for always keeping things interesting. I wish them nothing but happiness in whatever their futures may bring.
