||Day Fifty-Six||
Today we started our painting project of the summer -- the downstairs, front-entry, hallway. Besides this, and possibly painting the upstairs bathroom, this should be the only painting we do this summer. At first this seemed like an easy project to tackle. And really, the painting itself (the rolling) won't take long at all. But it took a lot of prepping.
We had to move the hallway table, we had to take down anything hanging on the walls, my mom did some spackling/sanding, and then we both worked to tape off everything. The taping was tedious because there are four different doorways (front door, downstairs bathroom, garage door, and laundry room door) plus we are painting the inside of two archways, which had to be taped also.
By the time we got to actually painting, the trimming, I became useless and consumed with worry/self-doubt about going back to work soon. It's not really important, so I won't draw it out. But my mom is the "trimmer" anyway, so she trimmed while I calmed myself, read for a bit, and then ended up crashing on the loveseat for a nap (which is very unlike me).
Basically, once the trimming was finally done, the day had flown by to the point where it was time to start dinner. So I made dinner while my mom finished trimming, but then we called it quits for the day (or rather she did).
I forgot to take before and after pictures, as well as didn't remember to take pictures when it was actually light enough outside and inside so that you can see the progress. But I think we're going to really like this change. The paint color is called "Latté", and it just feels like a warm color. Much like a latté. It will also just help the house feel more like our own; the cream color that was up before was painted in ALL of the rooms, besides my bedroom (which was a light purple) and the laundry room (which is a chocolatey brown), to make the house easier to sell. More of a blank canvas.
I feel like these past few days have been so time consuming, and tomorrow won't be any different. I miss the few days I was at my apartment, with no agenda and a couple of books to read. Hopefully, after an upcoming wedding (this next weekend), things will start to die down a little. I've been reading more of more of Divergent and it's such a hard book to stop reading, but at the same time I'm kind of ready to power through it and start on my next book. What that book will be, I just never know.
