||Day Forty-Six||
Today I discovered the power of a hammer and nails.
After sitting in my closet for at least three months, I decided that today was the day I would spruce up "The Cabin" with some framed pictures that my mom wasn't using. I also put up my "Welcome To Our Cabin" sign that my dad got me as a birthday gift. It's pretty perfect.
After feeling pretty pumped and proud of my handiwork, I decided to keep going and hang a few things in my room that I had been meaning to get to a long time ago. I started with a Christmas gift from one of my roommates. Because of it's inspirational quote ("Live in the moment. Walk in the sunshine. Discover your soul."), I hung it up in my bathroom; that way, it'll be one of the first things I'll see in the morning.
Next was a hand-made gift from my boyfriend. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a hook on the back yet, so for now it's just resting on top of my bulletin/white board. It's not the most practical set up, though, considering it fell on my head TWICE while trying to get a picture. So now it's actually sitting on my desk again, but soon this is where it will hang in all it's glory.
The last thing to hang up was another gift, this one was from one of my best friend's sister. She knew how much I like lorises so she painted one for me. One of the nicest and coolest gifts I've ever gotten. It makes me so happy every time I look at it.
Though the day was full of mishaps and frustrations, in the end I feel happy and excited. And why do I feel this way, you might ask? Because I am currently waiting for my boyfriend to arrive, at any minute, for a weekend visit. And why is that so special (other than the obvious reason that I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend)? Because we will be able to spend the Fourth of July together, for the first time, AND celebrate our 2 year anniversary together this Saturday (which especially means a lot to me because we didn't get to spend our 1 year anniversary together). Also here is my dog, keeping me company while I wait and taking full advantage of her being allowed on the futon (my mom would have a cow).
So basically, all is right with the world again. The apartment is decorated (and currently smells like cinnamon roll candles), my boyfriend is mere minutes from walking in the door, and I am currently listening to soft music without a care in the world. Happy Thursday.
