||Day Forty-Seven||
There's something about when my boyfriend comes to town that throws me completely off schedule. And with my schedule goes my blogging. Thank goodness for the internet and adjusting time stamps.
Also, quick disclaimer: all of these photos were taken with my cell phone due to the convenience of not having to tote around my huge DSLR camera.

Today was the first full day that my boyfriend was visiting and we decided to take full advantage of the time and the gorgeous weather. And what better way to do that then to take an extensive nature walk.
When my roommate, Emily, and I were looking for apartments, one of the major selling points to me for the apartment we chose was that it was right next to this beautiful walking path/bog/woods. It's seriously beautiful at all times of the year, but especially in the summer.
Throughout the whole walk my boyfriend would stop and point out various plants that he's familiar with, worked with, or was curious about. It's one of the many things I love about him -- his curiosity.
 After making it through the wooded area, we started walking on a path that runs parallel to a street. It was then we had to make the decision to either keep walking (and eventually loop back to my apartment), or turn around and walk all the way back through the woods. At the time the woods-option seemed longer, and I knew where I was from the road that it didn't SEEM like it would be much farther if we just followed the road. I don't know how long it took us, and my poor dog, Tippy, to get back, but I do know that it involved walking along the highway for what seemed like too long and too dangerous. At least know I know! Not to mention the important part is that we made it back without any of us collapsing. Although, once we got back we pretty much decided we were going to be couch-potatoes for the rest of the afternoon.
 Around 9:00 pm that night we headed out to find some fireworks. We weren't sure exactly where we were going, and the traffic was absolutely insane, but eventually we made out way to this dock that seemed like the ultimate spot to watch fireworks. Unfortunately, many other people thought the dock was a good idea too, so many that the dock started to rock (a lot), to the point where water was floating up onto it. Me, being terrified of the whole scenario (I can't really say what it was that really scared me. The idea of falling in the water? Drowning? I have no idea. It just made me extremely uncomfortable). We decided to move up the dock onto more solid ground, literally, despite it being harder to see the sky. It got to be 10, and still no fireworks. Lots of people gave up, thinking they were in the wrong spot, which definitely alleviated a lot of the weight from the "sinking" dock. But finally around 10:30 they started up.
 Were they the best fireworks? No. Was it the best view? Also no. But I was in good company. And that's an important part of the Fourth of July (or any holiday) -- spending it with the people (or person) you care about.
Once the fireworks ended, Jake and I raced back to the car. I felt like we had a good head start on making our way out before the traffic, but a wrong turn and a hundred cars later, we were stuck in the middle of it all. It took about an hour or so to finally break through and get home.
All in all it was a solid day. And as I said, I'm just glad I got to spend it with my favorite guy.
