||Day Sixty-Three||
A lot of people are under the misconception that Indiana is just a bunch of corn fields, flat land, and highway (after all, it is thought to be the "Crossroads of America"). And sure, if I had lived in any other state growing up I would not likely be begging my parents to let me roadtrip with my friends to Indiana for spring break. But in truth Indiana, much like any other state, I'd bet, is home to many gem locations that, I think, make it particularly beautiful and exciting. Today I visited one of those beautiful Indy sites for the second time -- the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Not only is this place jam-packed full of amazing and interesting art pieces, which occasionally rotate out (for example, "A Room" by Sopheap Pich, which is currently hanging in the front entrance), but admission is also FREE (except for the spotlighted exhibit).
And if that isn't exciting enough for you, the IMA also includes the "100 Acres" nature park that integrates outdoor art pieces as well. The last time I visited the IMA, we spent so much time inside that we were too tired to go through the outside (not to mention it was a lot hotter last summer when I went). So on this trip, we decided to start with the 100 Acres.
I was determined, above all, to see "Funky Bones" by Atelier Van Lieshout. After reading John Green's "The Fault In Our Stars" and then seeing the movie, I was dying to check this out for myself. And, after quite a bit of walking, and some deciphering of the map, we found it. It. Was. Awesome.
Kim Beck's "NOTICE: A Flock of Signs".
"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." - E.B. Browning
Robert Indiana's "Love".
Sol LeWitt's "Wall Drawing No. 652".
We spent the majority of our time, after the nature park, in the contemporary art section. These are a few of my favorite exhibits (at least, the ones of which I took pictures).

Julianne Swartz's "Terrain".
Gabriel Pionkowski's "Untitled".
Robert Indiana's "Indiana by the Numbers".
To end the afternoon, we hit the gift shop, of course.
I found the most perfect mug, which is great because I have an undying love for collecting mugs and also a borderline obsession with the color green (specifically mint). The lady that rang me up told me that it must be my signature color, seeing as it matched my dress, my cell phone, and my wallet. Perhaps I will do a blog post over all the things I have that are in the green family.
Since my mom goes back to work soon, and I'm thinking of going back up to college so that I can start working again, we're trying to squeeze in the main things we wanted to do this summer (e.g. the Louisville Zoo last week). Why is it that June lasted forever, but July is flying by?
