||Day Twenty-Four||
Sometimes things don't work out the way you think they will.
Like today, I had this idea for a DIY to put up on my blog.
So I made a plan, I got all the supplies, and then tonight I put my plan into motion.
After three hours of working on my project (I'm a perfectionist when it comes to being creative) I was finishing the final step when something went wrong. Something that ultimately ruined my whole project, at least for what I was wanting to do with it. And it seemed silly to be so upset over it, but I was devastated and angry at myself. I know this is all very vague without actually knowing what I was making, but bear with me. The point is it wasn't working out; I was stuck.
So I turned to someone I knew could make me feel better: my dog, Zoey.
The special thing about Zoey, besides her ability to be nearly impossible to take a picture of, is that she is incredibly aware of when someone is upset. And when someone is upset, she CANNOT stand it. Even the slightest hint of distress in your voice can set her off. Usually, at the first sign of someone's sadness, she will grab a toy and run around you in an attempt to make you smile. Other times she'll just get right up into your face, start licking you, or trying to climb on top of you (and mind you, she is not a small dog), especially if there are tears. It works every time.
Within a few minutes, I felt better and I had thought of a new way to "refurbish" my old project into a new project, but we'll see how that goes. I guess the point of all this is that I really learned two lessons from tonight:
1. Laughter really can be the best medicine, and
2. Sometimes things don't work out the way you think they will.
Sometimes it's disappointing, but other times it can be for the better.
It can be a chance to learn from your mistakes, to challenge yourself, and ultimately better yourself from it.
