||Day Twenty-Two||
Another day full of excitement. Honestly I didn't intend for this blog to practically be my personal online diary, but seeing as that's how it's going I guess I won't stop now. Though really I do plan on making more posts focusing on things other than my daily whereabouts.

Today was the last full day that my boyfriend would be here, which was a bummer, but we made it worth while. To start out the day, I donated blood because I'm lucky to be a universal donor (O-) and I'm CMV negative. CMV, or cytomegalovirus, is essentially a flu-like virus that pretty much all adults are susceptible to having. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure that even if you are CMV positive, you likely don't know it and it hardly affects your life. But for those who are CMV negative, like me, I'm what the call a "baby donor". This means that my blood is safe enough to be used for blood transfusions for premature babies in need, which is amazing. I'd like to get into the routine of donating every chance I can (every 8 weeks or so).
After (hopefully) saving lives, my boyfriend and I headed to the Indianapolis Zoo. Obviously I've been here before, and many times for that matter, but I never get tired of it. This time I tried to take some pictures of animals that I hadn't posted in my previous zoo post.
 The main reason I wanted to take my boyfriend here, because this was also not his first time at the Indy Zoo, was so he could see the new orangutan exhibit. I even got to see my favorite orangutan up close: Katy. I may be a little biased, considering she has my namesake (even the spelling, though I'm trying to go by Kate nowadays) but she is also thought to be one of the most beautiful orangutans because of her sweet face and perfectly groomed bangs.
 After the orangutans we saw both the dolphin show and the dog show, neither of which he had seen before. Then we ended the zoo trip by petting the dog sharks -- well, he pet the dog sharks.
When we finally got back to my house after the zoo, I ended up falling asleep on the couch for about an hour. I blame it on having one less pint of blood. We then ended our whirlwind of a day with dinner at a sushi place (as per his request/craving) and then went to a late night showing of the movie "Neighbors". That's one of the "perks" of being in a long-distance relationship, generally whenever we do spend time together we always try to make the most of it by going places and having adventures as opposed to just staying in and watching Netflix all day (which we also do too, for the record).
I miss him already, but I know that the next time we can see each other will be worth the wait.
